“Operation Santa Claus 2013” Raises Record-breaking HK$21 Million (Full version)

A record sum was revealed on 17th January 2014 at a closing ceremony of “Operation Santa Claus 2013” at the Grand Hyatt hotel. The annual fundraising event is jointly organized by Radio Television Hong Kong and South China Morning Post , with money going this year to 18 beneficiaries. For five consecutive years, despite the city had been in economic recovery, the event's fundraising records were broken year by year. It is another phenomenal year that a new fundraising record of $ 21,098,533 was set and claimed to be the best in 26 years of Operation Santa Claus history.
Operation Santa Claus was established by the South China Morning Post and Radio Television Hong Kong in 1988 to connect the local community to worthwhile charities with the help of two of the city's most respected media organisations.
Now one of Hong Kong's most popular charity campaigns, OSC has brought joy, goodwill and HK$188 million to 176 charities over the years, sharing the gift of hope to those who lack the means to improve their lives.
