Hong Kong, China and the US today, and a local school with a mainland curriculum.
Beijing and Hong Kong officials have hit back at the US government for imposing sanctions on seven Chinese officials over the national security crackdown.
President Biden said last week that the situation here is deteriorating, and the Chinese government is not keep-ng its commitment that it made on how it would deal with Hong Kong .
The Liaison Office said the sanctions were no more than "a piece of waste paper", and would only strengthen their determination to fight for national interests.
Carrie Lam, said we cannot allow such misguided remarks to go unchallenged.  The Chief Secretary said the SAR would further implement the security law, saying US "bullying" showed that it was vital to safeguard national security. The Secretary for Security, Chris Tang, said the claim that the imposition of the so-called "sanctions" and issue of a "business advisory" were in response to the enactment and enforcement of the Hong Kong National Security Law is a lame excuse that could hardly stand up to challenge," AmCham says the city has a crucial role to play as an international business hub and that the chamber is well aware of the increasingly complicated geopolitical environment and its risks..
What is the effect of the advisory and the sanctions? What does Hong Kong mean to the US, and to China? What about HK’s international standing?
From 9:15am-9:30am, we’re discussing the first school offering a mainland Chinese curriculum in the city.
