In this week's episode, we will talk about China’s cattle trade in the pre-1949 period. Professor Thomas DuBois from the Beijing Normal University in China will tell us how the history of the cattle industry that had no centralised accounts and no clear geography of comparative productive advantage was conducted. Professor DuBois was invited by the University of Hong Kong to give a talk entitled “Business History without Business: Making Sense of China’s pre-1949 Cattle Trade”.
