With its northern terminus in Harbin City of Heilongjiang Province, the Harbin-Dalian High-Speed Railway passes through Changchun and Shenyang to reach its southern terminus in Dalian City of Liaoning Province. Traversing the Three Northeastern Provinces, it has a total length of 921 km and is the first high-speed railway in China to be built in an alpine region. It is also the world’s first new high-elevation high-speed railway.

In this episode, we will travel along the Harbin-Dalian High-Speed Railway and venture deep into Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture in Jilin Province to see how the descendants of China’s ethnic Koreans are carrying on their customs, as well as to observe the traditional activities carried out by the local men and women.

The film crew will also head deep into Paektu Mountain to look for ginseng with a veteran forager, so as to gain a deeper understanding of how the custom of wild alpine ginseng foraging has been passed down to the present day in Fusong County.
