Wong Shing

2020-02-08
In this weekend's "Hong Kong Heritage" China analyst and author Mark O'Neill talks about the life of Wong Shing, a journalist and diplomat, who was born in 1927 and educated at both a missionary school in Hong Kong and then later in America. He helped found Tung Wah, was an advocate of the Self-Strengthening Movement for economic and military reform in China, and also served as Hong Kong's second Chinese legislator. And five minutes at the end of nostalgia, with the late Dan Waters talking about the soundscape of Hong Kong when he came here in the 50s - and, of course, many of those sounds are now gone.
