The Centenary of China’s 1911 Revolution 5-3-2011

2011-02-26
It’s 100 years since the revolution that toppled the Qing Dynasty. To mark that momentous anniversary, the Hong Kong Museum of History is holding an exhibition that shows the factors leading up to the end of China’s emperors. While there were other revolutionary leaders throughout China, the pioneer was Dr Sun Yat-sen who was educated and trained as a doctor in Hong Kong. The museum’s Osmond Chan tells Annemarie about Dr Sun, uprisings, railways and a bankrupt state. 5-3-2011
