Kai Tak Sports Park / 33,000 new electric vehicle charging stations

2024-09-03
On Tuesday's Backchat, we're looking ahead to the completion of the Kai Tak Sports Park, due early next year.

Chief Executive John Lee on Sunday said that preparations were underway for the grand opening of the $30 billion facility in the first quarter of 2025.

The main stadium will have a capacity of 50,000, and is intended to hosts a range of sports events, and, it's hoped, concerts by major international attractions.

The stadium's management is planning to conduct test runs ahead of the park's opening by simulating crowds of people leaving the park and heading to nearby MTR stations.

After 9:45, we hear more about the expansion of electric vehicle infrastructure, with 33,000 parking spaces in housing estates due to be equipped with EV charging facilities by the end of this year.
