The Infinite Yangtze

2020-07-01
Starting our journey from Shanghai, the eastern estuary of the Yangtze River, we visit the Site of the First National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party located in the former French Concession, where the Communist Party was established in 1921, to explore the origins of our ancestors’ ideals. After passing through Qutang Gorge and travelling along the Wu River, the largest southern tributary in the upper reaches of the Yangtze, our presenter arrives in Guizhou. There, we climb Mount Fanjing, the highest peak of the Wuling Mountains and a Natural World Heritage Site, and also traverse Red Cloud Golden Peak, one of the summits in the mountain’s upper section. Continuing our tour of Guizhou, we drop by Zunyi Conference Memorial Hall, a site related to the Red Army’s Long March, to look back at an important turning point in the history of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. We then head west to the upper reaches of the Yangtze to experience the local scenery and culture there.
