On Monday's Backchat: The future of the Democratic Party; and recycling plastic bottles.
It had been due to decide on Sunday whether or not to field candidates in the Legco elections in December. But instead it stopped short of making a decision – with the chairman, Lo Kin-hei, saying members had decided that it wasn’t necessary to take a vote on the issue as no-one from the party had expressed an intention to stand in the elections.
He said the party would ask members who are interested in joining the polls to notify its central committee, and if potential candidates did come forward, then another meeting would be held for members to question them and decide whether they could represent the party and take part in the election.
After 9:15am, we’re joined by environmentalist Paul Zimmerman to talk about recycling plastic bottles.
