On Tuesday’s Backchat: Covid-19 updates; and consumption vouchers.
Civil servants, Hospital Authority staff, care home workers and school teachers will have to get at least one shot of Covid-19 vaccine, or they'll be required to have regular tests at their own expense. Airport staff and quarantine hotel workers will have to be inoculated if they want to keep their jobs.
The government also says full-day classes at schools can resume as early as next month if at least 70 percent of students and teachers have been vaccinated against Covid-19. Social-distancing measures will be extended for another two weeks.
Meanwhile, the category system of countries considered to be Covid risks will be simplified, and it should be easier for fully vaccinated Hong Kong residents to return from places such as the UK and India. And it is reported that the UK is planning to offer booster shots in September. Do we need a third shot?
What do you think? Should we relax Covid-19 rules now that we've gone more than 50 days with no local cases?
From 9:15am-9:30am, we’re discussing the current spending spree using the first installments of the consumption vouchers which were issued on Sunday.
