The US Federal Reserve has voted unanimously to keep US interest rates unchanged in a range between 2.25%-2.5%. The FOMC doesn’t expect to raise interest rates for the rest of 2019 amid slower economic growth.

President Trump said overnight his administration was considering leaving tariffs on China for a "substantial period". He said that a trade deal with Beijing was "coming along nicely" but “we have to make sure that China lives by the deal." US trade representative Robert Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin are due to travel to Beijing next week to continue negotiations with Chinese vice-premier Liu He.
