Trade talks between the US and China in Washington have continued for an extra two days over the weekend. President Trump wrote on Twitter that substantial progress has been made on issues including intellectual property protection, technology transfer, agriculture and currency, and he will delay the increase in tariffs originally scheduled for Mach 1.  He said he expected a meeting with Xi Jinping to be held in March at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, where any final deal would be sealed.


Huawei' CEO Guo Ping, speaking at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona yesterday, said, Huawei is 12 months ahead of its rivals in implementing 5G technology. He added that President Trump is right that the US risks being left behind on 5G.



Ahead of this week’s budget in Hong Kong, the Financial Secretary, Paul Chan, says the outlook for Hong Kong this year is uncertain, and that it's at a "critical stage" with both danger and opportunities. This year’s surplus is forecast to be only a third of last year’s record breaking HK$138 billion.
