MBB2012: Nana’s Lied

Eva Meier's looks and voice place her firmly in the tradition of the great German cabaret singers. This chanteuse possesses the gaze of Marlene Dietrich combined with the sounds of Lotte Lenya and Ute Lemper that she makes part of her own voice. Her stage persona is captivating. Drama abounds. Since her many appearances in Hong Kong (City Festival/ French May/ Music Beyond Borders), she has performed at the Royal College of Music, London; at the Machynlleth Festival in Wales; in Berlin at the 100 Grad Festival; and a Brecht recital at the International Mozart Festival in Johannesburg accompanied by Paul Cibis. With an era of songs about love, loss and laughter, her performances will continue to be timeless.

For ‘Music Beyond Borders’ Eva was accompanied by Paul Cibis, who will also be familiar to Hong Kong audiences for his role with Andreas Kern in ‘Piano Battle’. In Dec 2011 the team was in Asia for their second concert tour in China, covering eight cities. Earlier that year Paul had his debut at the Philharmonie am Gasteig in Munich with singer Julietta Demetriades as part of the Zyprischer Frühling festival. He has released a solo album ‘The Story in Mind’.
