Protecting the territory's wetlands / Hong Kong's tackling of swine fever: in need of a review?
2024-01-09
On Tuesday's Backchat, we're talking about the protection of the SAR's wetlands, with construction in three new development areas of the Northern Metropolis now underway.
Members of the public have until 20 January to share their comments on the government's plan to build a new technology hub, which is causing concern to environmentalists.
Expected to cover 627 hectares of land including 90 hectares of reclaimed fishponds, the San Tin Technopole will be 17 times the size of the Hong Kong Science Park. The development is intended to boost the city's research and development capabilities.
Are development and biodiversity at odds? Or can they coexist?
After 9:45, we'll discuss suggestions to review Hong Kong's approach to tackling swine fever and other biological threats.
Let us know what you think. You can leave a message on our Facebook page, email us at backchat@rthk.hk or call us on 23388266.
