Personal injuries in restaurants and liability / HKFC Citi Soccer Sevens

2023-05-24
On Wednesday's Backchat, we're talking about legal liability in the catering industry.
The debate has been raging for years over who should be responsible when people are scalded by hot food or drinks at restaurants.
Last week an 8-year-old girl suffered second-degree burns on her forehead, face and arm after a collision with another customer at a Tseung Kwan O restaurant spilled piping-hot coffee on the child.
And earlier this month, a Florida court ruled that McDonald's was liable for burns suffered by another little girl after a steaming hot Chicken McNugget fell on her thigh in 2019.
So what do you think? Who's responsible for such accidents? Restaurants or customers? Should the temperature of hot drinks and food be regulated?
After 9:45, we'll look at the HKFC Citi Soccer Sevens which will take place over the weekend.
Let us know what you think. You can leave a message here on our Facebook page, email us at backchat@rthk.hk, or give us a call on 23388266.
