Hong Kong set another record of 4,285 confirmed new infections on Wednesday, with about 7,000 preliminary cases recorded. However, health authorities admit that the figures no longer accurately reflect the real situation owing to a backlog of test samples.
Nine more patients died in the 24 hours to 5pm.

President Xi Jinping has said he’s highly concerned about the current wave of Covid-19 in Hong Kong and has ordered the SAR government to make it its top priority to bring the outbreak under control.
Seven newly designated clinics across the territory have opened, to treat only Covid-19 patients with relatively mild symptoms. As of Tuesday, about 12,000 infected residents were reported to be still waiting to be admitted to hospitals or isolation facilities.
After 9, we'll be talking about the latest developments in the tension between Russia and Ukraine.  At 9.25am, we’ll be joined by RTHK sports reporter Atom Cheung for the latest on the Beijing Winter Olympics.
