Latest on National Security Law

2020-07-10
On Friday's Backchat, we return to the latest developments in the new national security law for Hong Kong.

Beijing has officially opened its new office for national security agents to operate here, transforming a hotel in Causeway Bay into its temporary headquarters. Meanwhile, the government has proposed that civil servants should pledge allegiance to the SAR and the Basic Law by taking an oath or making a written declaration.

What do you think about this? And will the new security agency help to restore order in society? Will it also have an impact on human rights and press freedom?

8:30-9:30 Andrew Leung, International and Independent China Strategist and former Director-General of Social Welfare
8:30-9:00 Sharron Fast, Deputy Director of Master of Journalism Programme and Lecturer, University of Hong Kong
