2020-06-09

On Tuesday's  Backchat, the anniversary of anti-extradition protests.

On June 9th 2019 organisers say more than one million people join the largely peaceful demonstration against the proposed legisation.  It descended into violence after midnight when police, using batons and pepper spray hoses, tried to disperse small groups of protesters who hurled bottles and used metal barricades. The police put the march turnout at 240,000.

Months of city wide protests followed. One year on, how things have changed ? What effect has it had on our city? Why did they start, why did they continue, and have they finished?
