In Memory of Alison McEwan

2022-09-24

Alison McEwan was born in Hong Kong in 1950. Her father was a physical training instructor and after he died she found a diary of his – that he had been part of the elite Z-force, part of the wartime Special Operations Executive and had helped to get the Kuomintang’s man in Hong Kong – the one-legged Admiral Chan Chak out in a daring escape during the Japanese invasion on Christmas Day, 1941.  Alison would return to work in Hong Kong for the ICAC. This interview is about how she and her husband re-track the escape party’s walk up through China after escaping in motor torpedo boats.
