A Murder at Tai O Police Station (R)

2019-12-01

Annemarie returns to Tai O with former Marine Police commander Les Bird as they look at the history of Tai O Police Station, where Les  was an inspector for West Lantau in the late 1970s. Built in 1902 to combat piracy, the station was the site of a murder in 1918, when an Indian police officer shot dead his commanding officer Thomas Glendinning, before turning the gun on himself. Annemarie also talks to Glendinning's granddaughter, Sandra Trimble. Les Bird has written a memoir of his 20+ years in the Marine Police called: A Small Band of Men: An Englishman's Adventures in the Hong Kong Marine Police.
