Jonathan Wattis on Chinese photographer Lai Afong

2018-07-07
On this weekend's Hong Kong Heritage, Lai Afong was the most important 19th Century Chinese photographer. From 1860 to 1890 he ran a studio in Hong Kong, which was then taken over by his son. Afong's beautiful landscapes and studio portaits taken in Hong Kong, Canton and Macau, are on show at Wattis Fine Art.  Jonathan Wattis tells Annemarie about Lai Afong and his fellow photographers of that era.
