On this week’s Hong Kong Heritage, Part 3 of a special series highlighting the early decades of broadcasting in Hong Kong to mark the 90th anniversary of RTHK. Annemarie Evans reports on the beginning of commercial cable radio station Rediffusion in 1949, with “novels on air” from the legendary Lee Ngaw, and the early success of equally legendary Uncle Ray Cordeiro. We hear Benjamin Britten playing in the RTHK studio and join the outdoor broadcast team seeing off Governor Alexander Grantham on a boat on his retirement.
