Hong Kong Heritage - 90 Years of Broadcasting (Series 1, Part 1)

2018-06-02
This weekend marks the start of a special series on Hong Kong Heritage throughout June, looking at the early years of broadcasting in Hong Kong to mark the 90th anniversary of RTHK, which started out as the call sign GOW in 1928.
In this week's programme Annemarie Evans takes us to the start of radio technology, and how GOW and then ZBW, the precursors to Radio Hong Kong, began, in the year when veteran DJ Ray Cordeiro was three years old! Colin Aitchison, presenter of Vintage Chart Toppers, tells her about the hits of 1928, and HKU Space programme director and author Oliver Chou talks about sound checks with military bands in theatre pits, and the opening concert.

Hong Kong Heritage
